Hair removal for men – what about waxing?

Okay, guys. This one’s for you. The issue of hair removal for men is one we don’t often talk about casually, but why not? As you can see, we have an entire site dedicated to de-sasquatching our bods! So come on in…let’s make some smooth talk.

These days, salon care is just as much for men as it is for women. And why shouldn’t it be–we all enjoy looking our best. When it comes to having smooth, clear skin, it’s something most of us prefer, regardless of our sex.

There was a time when you had to be a pro bodybuilder, swimmer or elite runner, in order to feel justified in looking for men’s hair removal products. Not anymore. Guys, you have pretty much every option that women have. But you also have to ask yourself the same questions: what works and what’s best for you?

Let’s start by talking about waxing. Yes, just the thought conjures up images of Steve Carell howling as his chest hair is yanked out in the movie The 40 Year Old Virgin. And yes, the process can be that way in real life–but it doesn’t have to be.

In a nutshell, waxing is the process of temporarily removing hair at the root. As you know, warm wax is applied to the area from which the hair will be removed. A special type of paper is then placed on the wax. The wax sticks to the paper, the paper is removed, and there goes the hair, along with it. For most guys, this gives results that last from 2 to 8 weeks.

Waxing is used as a form of hair removal for men pretty much anywhere we have hair. This includes:

* Face
* Eyebrows
* Axilla (fancy way of saying “armpit”)
* Chest
* Back
* Groin area
* Legs

There are a few areas that are not recommended for waxing. These include the genitals, nipples, and inside your nose and ears. These areas are super sensitive. Plus, the hair inside our nose and ears actually serves a purpose. Trim it, but don’t totally de-fur.
